Video Posting and Bounty Procedure

Bounty Guidelines

  1. A bounty is available for videos falling under one of the below categories.
  2. The bounty’s monetary value will be determined by the Board of Directors (BOD) on a case-by-case basis. The BOD will consider both the amount of effort required by the videographer(s), and the video’s value to the organization. $50 or more will be given to be split among the videographers for eligible videos.
  3. For every eligible payout, the sponsoring committee will get $50.
  4. The bounty may be forfeited and given to a committee.

Eligible Categories for Bounty

  • Classes/Events
    • Coverage of a class or event hosted by DMS. May be on or off-site. Can be a shortened version of the actual event (ex. a recap).
  • Member Orientation
    • Videos showing potential members how to sign up, showing tours of the space, etc.
  • How To/Instructional
    • Instructional videos showing how to complete a specific process, showing how to use a particular tool at DMS, etc.
  • Leadership Requested
    • Other videos specifically requested by PR or the BOD.

Getting Posted

1. Get Pre-Approval

Send an email outlining the concept to [email protected] for pre-approval of posting to the Channel, and [email protected] for pre-approval of the bounty if a bounty is desired. This must be done any time before production begins.

If approved, the Board of Directors (BOD) will assign a monetary value at this time.

Videos not eligible for the bounty may still be able to be posted to the Channel at the discretion of the PR Committee.

2. Produce and Complete Video

Video must contain all branding graphics and conform to the Dallas Makerspace YouTube Policies and Rules. Video should be in h.264 codec and in .mp4 container.

3. Send to PR Committee for Review

Send the completed video, along with YouTube description, to the PR Committee at [email protected] for review for posting. The PR committee may suggest alterations before approving the video. Video may be sent by any of the following methods:

  • Uploaded and emailed via DropBox, Google Drive, or other.
  • Uploaded on to DMS’s internal file server.

4. Send Bounty Request to BOD (if applicable)

Send an email to [email protected]. Include:

  • Video title or description
  • The PR-approved video itself
  • Relevant video category (Class/Event, New member orientation, How to)
  • The sponsoring committee (to receive $50)

Video Ownership

Any video posted to the Dallas Makerspace YouTube Channel may be licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution license (i.e., it may be remixed or reused in other videos, even outside of Dallas Makerspace).
