Member Access Key, Rules and Policies Acknowledgement

This page is dedicated to the development of a Member Agreement which serves as an acknowledgement and education of the rules for new members.

Old

  1. I agree to follow all standing rules found at http://dallasmakerspace.org/wiki/Rules_and_Policies and the bylaws at http://dallasmakerspace.org/wiki/Bylaws
  2. I agree to maintain to the best of my ability a safe, secure, and clean environment for myself, other members, personnel, staff, and visitors.
  3. I agree to take all necessary safety precautions when using tools, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  4. I agree not to deface or mistreat Dallas Makerspace facilities or property; and to hold the property of other members to the same standards.
  5. I understand that some equipment is restricted to certified members and agree not to use such equipment until certified.
  6. I understand that the Access Key is for my exclusive use and will not be loaned or transferred.
  7. I will not alter, deface, or duplicate the Access Key in any manner.
  8. I will immediately report the loss of my Access Key.
  9. I understand that the Access Key is Dallas Makerspace property and will return it when my membership is terminated.
  10. I understand that failure to comply with the above requirements or standing rules may result in forfeiture of membership.
  11. I understand that by accepting the Access Key and signing below I am entering a contract with Dallas Makerspace as stated above.

New

  2. I agree to maintain to the best of my ability a safe, secure, and clean environment for myself, other members, personnel, staff, and visitors.
  3. I understand that some equipment is restricted to certified members and agree not to use such equipment until certified.
  4. I understand that all members are required to "Be excellent to each other".
  5. I understand that I must directly supervise all my guests at all times that the guests are in the space.
  6. I understand that minors 15 and under must be accompanied by Parent or legal guardian at all times.
  7. I understand that the Access Key is for my exclusive use and will not be loaned or transferred.
  8. I understand that failure to comply with the above requirements or standing rules may result in forfeiture of membership.

Comments

  • The document needs to inform the reader of the code of conduct and our most important rules.
  • "may result in forfeiture" seems too soft
  • Number 2 and 3 in "Old" can be combined.
  • We don't really care if access cards are defaced. They're worth less than $1 and it can confuse things when multiple people get the same badge.
  • "Old" has no mention of guests
